Tips For Responsible Tourism

  • Mind Your Behavior in Temples and Sacred Sites:

    • When visiting temples, follow the rules and dress codes. It's customary to wear a sarong and sash in temples. You can show respect by maintaining a quiet and reverent demeanor.

    • Some locations in Indonesia, like the Lempuyang Temple, are considered sacred. Approach these sites with the utmost respect, and avoid causing any disruption.

  • Support Local Businesses:

    • Choose locally-owned accommodations, restaurants, and shops to support the local economy. Engaging with local businesses can provide a more authentic experience and benefit the community directly.

  • Reduce Plastic Waste:

    • Indonesia, like many places, struggles with plastic pollution. Bring a reusable water bottle, keep-coffee cup and shopping bag, and say no to single-use plastics whenever possible.

  • Respect Nature and Wildlife, in and out of the water:

    • Follow responsible marine practices, do not touch or disturb marine life, and refrain from collecting souvenirs from the ocean.

    • The islands are surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Follow Leave No Trace principles, stay on designated paths, and avoid disturbing wildlife.
